Alan founded LAAND in August 2012; having worked as a senior chartered landscape architect and QA/EMS manager for a respected multi-national environmental consultancy. He brings with him both creativity and technical expertise in delivering successful schemes for Cooper Partnership, BHWB and Golder Associates.
He studied landscape architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University gaining his BA (Hons) & Post Graduate Diploma. Alan has been a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) since 2006 and became a certified member of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) in 2012.
As an experienced contracted administrator with a breadth of experience analysing, planning, designing landscapes for clients in the public and private sector; Alan balances design ability with construction expertise to deliver playful yet practical spaces in often challenging or hostile environments. During 2011 and 2012 he prepared a demanding green infrastructure review and public realm masterplan for a developing city in Kazakhstan.

Equally at home with concept or project delivery, pens or a computer; Alan also brings with him a wealth of public participation experience and enthusiasm for collaborative working to get the best scheme for both the client and stakeholders.
Outside of LAAND, Alan is an active CMLI sitting on the main Landscape Institute Council as the Yorkshire and Humber Branch Member and has taken on an important regional role as Professional Institute Liaison officer developing cross profession CPD, networking and policy events with the RTPI, RIBA, RICS and the ICE.
